Managing Loss and Grief During the Holiday Season

An Interactive, Experiential Workshop with Dr. Terri Daniel & Stephen Berkley

If you are mourning the death of a loved one or a loss of any kind, your grief can be more difficult and your sadness more pronounced during the Winter holidays.

We all respond to loss in different ways, and styles of coping can span a vast spectrum. Some choose to skip the holidays altogether, abandoning traditional customs that are painful reminders of holidays past. Others continue—and enhance—those traditions by including departed loved ones in new rituals designed to bring their presence into the festivities.

In this workshop we will explore a variety of experiential tools for working with loss, trauma, grieving in community and spiritual practices for deep inner work. These include guided meditation, art therapy processes and sacred ceremony for moving the “stuck” energy of grief out of our bodies and into a more spacious, more ventilated emotional landscape.

This work is based on Dr. Daniel's popular Grief as a Mystical Journey workshops, which are designed to help participants move toward internal transformation rather than focusing on external events.

In this workshop you will experience:

  • Art and music therapeutic processes

  • Multi-cultural loss and grief practices

  • Guided meditations and journeys

  • Heart-healing ceremonies and rituals

  • Grieving in community

Learn to:

  • Accept and embrace impermanence

  • Work with the natural ebb and flow of experience

  • Understand loss, pain, contraction and expansion

  • Develop practices for re-opening a wounded heart

  • Create personal healing rituals to honor the grief journey

  • Find gratitude and grace in life again

HOSTED BY

Stephen Berkley has spent thirty years in media wearing multiple hats—everywhere from writing marketing materials for MTV Networks to negotiating legal agreements for Aaron Spelling Television. His most recent work, Life With Ghosts, is his first fully self-produced feature film, alongside the podcast and courses it has inspired.

The story idea came with the death of Stephen’s father, when shortly afterwards, his mother began reporting interactions with whom she believed to be Dad's ghost—a real-life Mrs. Muir situation—which naturally begs the question: Are ghosts a real phenomenon or are they merely symptomatic of profound grief?

Life With Ghosts, now brand, is the culmination of a seven-year investigation into the nature of love, loss and after-death communication.
